Developing food quality and safety is crucial for improving the competitiveness and sustainability of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).Phnom Penh, April 28, 2026 - The National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI) cooperated with the Department of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, Phnom Penh, organized a workshop on "Technology Solutions Program for SMEs: Product development case study."The workshop was presided over by H.E. Dr. Keo Socheat, Director General of the National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI), with the aim of increasing the technological capacity and innovation implementation of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the food processing sector for sustainable business growth. Dr. Chrun Rithy, lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) gave a presentation on “The effectiveness of water draining technique on Histamine Reduction in Prahok Production,” which provided participants with important information, including the effects of histamine on consumer health and methods that can reduce histamine. Additionally, Dr. Ek Pichmony, deputy director of the Graduate School of the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, presented on “Scientific shelf-life extension and product stability,” which is very important for consumer safety, reducing spoilage, and adding value to agricultural products, facilitating distribution, and increasing ease of use.
